Day Trip to North Corinth_18th October 2014
The Consular Corps in Greece organized another successful event after the invitation of the Culture and Tourism Directorate of the Prefecture of Peloponnese on Saturday, 18th October 2014.
The event was a one-day trip to North Corinth. The 40 participants (United Kingdom, Ireland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Tunisia, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Paraguay, Brazil..) enjoyed the beautiful and picturesque part of North Corinth and enjoyed a special tour to the lake and the Envirenment Museum of Stymfalia which belongs to the Cultural Foundation of Piraeus Bank and the European network of protected areas Natura 2000. The aim of the Museum is to sensitize the public ecologically but also to save the knowledge of the traditional art of the Region.
The participants had a stopover to the Cistercian Monastery of Zaraka and Doxas Lake, the Monastery of St. George and the traditional village Goura. An interesting part of the trip was the visit to a Traditional Cheese Dairy where everyone had the opportunity to taste the local products.
The members of the Consular Corps in Greece highly appreciated the opportunity to visit those beautiful towns of Greece, to develop bonds of friendship among other diplomats and Honorary Consuls and to experience Filoxenía, the famous Greek hospitality.
A memorable excursion was completed with very encouraging comments from all participants.
