Hosting a magnificent New Year reception, which constitutes a tradition,
the Consular Corps in Greece held its Vassilopita cutting for 2013.
The event organized at the Yacht Club of Greece in Piraeus was honored by the presence of Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks, Mr. Athanassios Skordas, the Secretary General of the same Ministry Mr. Efthimiopoulos, Ambassadors, Charge d’ Affaires, Consuls representing many countries, as well as representatives of the business and scientific sectors .
The reception commenced with a speech to the attendees by the President of the Consular Corps in Greece and Honorary Consul of Ethiopia, Mrs Terina Kalogeropoulos Armenakis,
who greeted the guests and did a presentation of last year’s events. Just after, Minister Skordas addressing to the guests referred to the general financial situation and underlined the need for confidence towards the possibilities of the businessmen and the need for investments in order to proceed to the further development of the country.
Further on, the CCG Board awarded with a commemorative plaque the former President of the Corps and - Honorary General Consul of Ecuador Mr. George Bezis whose contribution to the corps throughout the years on national and international level has been acknowledged by all.
The second award was attributed to founder, editors and photographer of Greek Diplomatic Life magazine Mr. Leonidas Boutsikos, Mr. and Mrs. Nikolaos Boutsikos and Mr. Kostas Kostakis for their professional coverage assistance during all these years.
The President Mrs Terina Kalogeropoulos Armenakis announced the sponsorship of a colleague, the Honorary Consul of Estonia in Thailand Dr. Virahai for the Greek 4 top students, sponsorship for a two years IB program. This kind sponsorship is worth $200.000.
The event concluded, under the melody of a saxophonist.
The "lucky "person of the year, as traditions has it is the person that gets the coin, is Corp’s Vice-president, Minister Counsellor of the Mexican Embassy Mr. F. Sandoval Flores who received a commemorative good luck gift.
The reception closed with the guests greeting each other and wishing health, prosperity and recovery of the current situation.
